San Lorenzo + Resia

A longish ride to  Vittorio Veneto, then up to Chiesa San Lorenzo.  From there down through the prosecco vineyards to Tarzo and the turnoff for Resia.  This is a lovely climb along the rising ridge, where I should have turned toward Rolle.  I missed it though and soon was plunging down to Gai and the road toward Lago Revine.  Soon I rejoined Vittorio Veneto and was relieved to find a steady tailwind which continued all the way to Budoia.  Very tired when I reached home.  Need more miles.

Clauzetto + Campone

Wonderful sunny day for a climb up to Clauzetto, down to Pradis di Sotto, up to Piani di Clauzetto, and down to Campone.  All this up and down is exhausting, and the cold shady gorge to Lago di Tramonti put me into a slightly hypothermic blur.  The Bora wind picked up and I went into slow and steady survival mode.  Not bad, just time consuming.  Made it home and had a nice warm soak.  Beautiful scenery and a challenging  ride.

Collalto

The overcast lifted so I headed high, through Piancavallo to Collalto.  Traffic was light on this weekday, even bikes were scarce, maybe two others. I took it easy to avoid pulling any muscles or ligaments and seem to be unscathed.  Wonderful winter mountain ride.

Fregona

After a long delay finally got to ride again.  I rode down to Sarmede and then up the long climb to Fregona.  A few minutes more and you turn off toward Montaner.  This is a cliff hugging road above the olive trees and prosecco vines, real pretty.  Plummet down to Sarmede again, then saliscendi to Villa di Villa and Canova.  I took the flatter route home, through Fiaschette, Budoia and Marsure.  Out of shape and exhausted.

Bornass

Today the beautiful, peaceful climb from Costa, steeply upward to Madonna del Monte, along the edge of the washed-out old paved road, and up the switchbacks to Bornass.  I rode up a bit further to a dirt road on the right that reaches a microwave relay tower I’ve never noticed before.
Despite the bright sun I got a bit hypothermic on the way down.  Still a wonderful winter climb.
