Red Hawk Trail
Red Hawk Trail is another loop branching off from Walker’s Crossing Trail. Today with the additional benefit of a light cooling rain, a joy to ride in.

Logan Martin Dam
Hot and humid again but I need to ride. Decided to try Logan Martin Dam. The road is mostly big rollers, which are a great workout. The dam and lake are lovely. My Dad took me on a tour of the dam when I was 6, when the dam was new. Very exciting for a kid.

Lakeside Park
Cloudy humid day. I rode past the park to recreation area ball fields and stopped at the lakeshore. Several nearby thunderclaps got me moving toward home. Fun racing the rain home.
The beautiful park at at Pell City Lakeside.

Eagle Point MTB
There are a few dirt trails in the neighborhood, maybe old fire roads. I tried riding all of them in both directions, not hard. Across a branch of the lake are lovely views of hilly grassland.

Pine Mountain Road
I rode to Springville and turned left at the stop sign. You ride gradually upward along Canoe Creek then Canoe Lake. The road steepens, you leave the dense tree cover and climb up a lovely hairpin curve and a set chicanes. These were a blast on the way back down. Now you reach the ridgeline at Pine Mountain Road and continue climbing past the cell tower. Lots of rolling terrain here past the Birmingham water works Inland Lakes and then the Blount county line.
I retraced my steps with lots of steep rollers on the return as well. Beautiful bike ride!

Chief Ladiga Bike Trail
My brother in law James mentioned a rails to trails bikeway in the area so I had to check it out. I drove to Anniston Alabama and started the bikepath at Weaver. The trail is very smooth and has no hills. It feels like you are in a long green tunnel. Somehow in the small college town of Jacksonville I veered off the path and wandered aimlessly awhile. Then back on course eventually to Piedmont. Will have to return and continue toward Atlanta.
