Drove to Castaldia and hiked to Candaglia. There I donned my snowshoes and headed into deep powder. There are small rolling hills here, perfect for exercising your snowshoeing muscles. In fact I was exhausted after a few kilometers and hiked back down. Gorgeous winter day! Note: After carefully packing my Garmin I forgot to use it.
I’ve passed the turn off for this ride dozens of times but never tried it. Then I remembered my friend Naz had recommended it so I gave it a try. I rode through the gorge of Val Colvera then turned down Val Muie. Crossed the Meduna then crossed again toward Lago Ca’ Selva. At Chievolis turn toward Inglagna and wind along the cliffs above the Meduna. Beautiful wild area. Will try some of the side roads I spotted next time.
