Via delle Malghe Dorsale Cansiglio-Piancavallo MTB

This climb is a variation of the ride starting at Via Ruals at Coultura.
http://dolomiti-friulane.blogspot.com/2019/07/blog-post_24.html. Instead of going straight at  Malga Brusada take a right turn at the road toward Piancavallo.  This is nicknamed Via delle Malghe, one of the most spectacular rides in Friuli, especially in Autumn colors. Eventually it joins the dorsale Cansiglio-Piancavallo and the descent home.  Glorious!

Gravon MTB

Il Gravon is a large gravelly slope on the mountain side below Pala Fontana, just west of Giais.  I MTB’ed up the gravel road to 700 meters and looked for the trail head connecting with Strada di  Costa Lunga but couldn’t locate it in the undergrowth.  No problem, it’s a glorious day and a fun descent to Glera.  Joyous!

Passo Praderadego

Praderadego is another favorite wild climb along the front range of  the Monte Cesen Massif.  At Cismon del Val Marino turn onto the narrow lane heading north.  Soon it steepens and then steepens  more as it winds through the forest. Great practice for deep breathing.  There are barricades for recent rock slides but everyone goes around them.  Weave through the rockclimbers’ belay lines and climb steeply yet again.  The pass is lovely meadows surrounded by forested peaks.  Fun descent and long ride home.  Great climb!

Pian delle Femene

A beautiful climb from Revine up the stations of the cross to San Francesco and steeply onward to Pian delle Femene.  Cloudy and cold at the top so no fotos today.  Luckily a tailwind all the way home.

Monte Pala MTB

From Travesio I MTB’ed to Clauzetto and Pradis di Sopra.  Missed the turn for Monte Pala and took the steep way from Orton instead.  Turned into a dirt road which I vaguely remembered.  A guy on a tractor stopped to warn me the road ended soon, so I turned around and got back to the pavement.  This connected with the road ascending Monte Pala.  Beautiful, cool climbing weather.  At the top continued until the trail becomes a karst outcropping.  Headed back and a MTBer said we should try the north pala.  This is one of those things I keep putting off and I had to do it again: Marilyn was home waiting and another couple of hours exploring wasn’t possible.  Fun ride back down to Travesio.  Will try again soon.
